National Coordinating Committee (NCC)

The decision-making body of PBI-USA is the National Coordinating Committee.

Its current members are:

Christopher Barkan

Before volunteering with the PBI Indonesia Project in 2003, Christopher engaged an array of social and political programs, including civil rights in central Detroit, L'Arche community living with persons who have developmental disabilities, hospice, political asylum for refugees, prison outreach, and cultural immersion in rural Haiti. He is currently pursuing interdisciplinary graduate studies in the humanities at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where his primary research interests include the status of violence in philosophy and politics and lgbtq studies.

Kelleen Corrigan

Kelleen is a former PBI-Colombia field volunteer from 2001-2002. She has an M.A. in International Relations/Communication from Boston University, and will receive her J.D. from American University Washington College of Law in May, 2006. Kelleen received an Equal Justice Works fellowship to work in Miami with the Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center, beginning in September, 2006. She will primarily represent and advocate for women held in immigration detention throughout the state of Florida.

Matt Messier

Matt is a teacher of English and history at the Woodside Juvenile Rehabilitation Center in Burlington, VT. Matt is very active with Volunteers for Peace, serving on their board and having co-led work camps with VFP around the world since 1997. He has also been involved with Pax Christi and the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program. Matt is currently enrolled in a doctorate program in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at UVM.
